Fire officials say the search resumed today for a swimmer who was reported missing early Saturday evening in waters off Green Sands Beach in Ka‘u.
Six units, including a county helicopter, plus a Hawaii Police Department officer, responded to the 5:59 p.m. alarm Saturday, according to a Hawaii Fire Department statement.
The aerial search was suspended at dusk while the shoreline search continued.
The Coast Guard is expected to join search efforts for the man, who’s reportedly in his 20s, today.
